The king is burning: End of the Nice Carnival 2024

The 139th edition of the Nice Carnival ended on March 2, 2024. After a final parade, the King of Pop Culture was traditionally burned on the Promenade des Anglais. A magnificent fireworks display brought the event to a spectacular close.

After a long day of rain, an almost magical break in the weather allowed the king to be burned in front of a very large crowd of spectators.

The following morning, the traditional carnival swim and the musical entertainment that were planned for the morning were finally cancelled due to the weather conditions.

Indeed, since midnight on Sunday, March 3, 2024, the Alpes-Maritimes department has been placed under a state of emergency all day. Météo France issued a yellow alert for rain, flooding and coastal flooding.
